메탈리카가 Kill'em All 1집 앨범을 발매한 1983년. 미국의 Thrash의 한 축을 담당할 Testament가 결성되었습니다. 1987년 첫번째 스튜디오 앨범 The Legacy로 화려하게 데뷔했습니다.
걸출한 Alex Scolnick이라는 기타리스트를 필두로, Thrash와 잘 어울리는 목소리의 Chuck Billy가 도드라졌던.
Thrash의 장르중에서도 특히 짜임새있고 꽉찬 사운드로 메탈팬들을 매료시켰었죠.

아닙니다. 그들은 열심히 음악을 만들고 공연하고 있습니다. Testament 역시 그룹멤버의 부침이 있었지만,원년멤버 Eric Peterson 이 자리를 유지해왔고 Testament에서 활동하다가 자리를 비웠던 멤버들도 다시 재결합해서 젊었을때(?)보다 더욱 성숙한 음악을 만들고 있습니다. 2012년 7월그들의 10번째 스튜디오 앨범 Dark Roots of Earth를 발표했습니다. 9곡이 담겨있는데요,2009년 부터 곡 작업을 시작해서 완성한 앨범으로 첫주에 빌보드200에 12위에 이름을 올리기도 했습니다.
먼저 음악적으로 말하면. Eric Peterson이 인터뷰에서 밝혔듯이 더 헤비해졌다는 점. 그래서 Thrash 매니아들의 기대를 저버리지 않았습니다. 멜로디 면에서도 Testament 특유의 스타일도 도드라집니다.
얼마만에 이렇게 헤비한 새로운 음악을 다시 들어보나?하는 감회도 느낄 수 있는...
